The Culture of God by Nadim Nassar
Nadim Nassar is a Syrian priest, ordained in the Church of England. He uses his knowledge of Levantine culture to explore the gospel stories of Jesus and question some very western interpretations of the Bible.
The overall argument of his book is that to read the Bible correctly Christians need to understand three cultures: their own culture, the culture of the Bible and the culture of God.
The culture of the Bible can often be better understood by reading it through Syrian eyes. Understanding God as three persons means by definition that there is a culture within God, since culture forms where more than two people live together. An interesting, engaging read with much to offer the preacher.
